Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about diving with us in Hurghada.

Where is the best place to go scuba diving in Hurghada?

Honestly? Away from the big day boats. Our favourite sites are the walls of Giftun Island, the drift along Fanadir, Sheab El Erg where the dolphins live, and the four wrecks at Abu Nuhas. We take small private groups (never more than 4 divers per guide) to exactly these places, every day from 8 AM to 4 PM, starting at €40. Same sea, none of the crowds.

I want to do a diving course. Where do I start in Hurghada?

Start with the PADI Open Water Diver course. It takes 3 to 4 days and costs €330 with everything included. You study the theory online at your own pace, then we do the water skills and 4 real Red Sea dives from our boat. One instructor teaches you alone, so nobody rushes you and nobody holds you back. Pick a start date on the booking page or send us a WhatsApp and we sort out the rest.

How do I book a diving trip in Hurghada?

Online, in about two minutes. Choose your trip, date and level on the booking page. No prepayment, you pay on the boat in cash or by card. We confirm on WhatsApp, pick you up from your hotel for free, and you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before.

What time do diving trips start and end in Hurghada?

Most of our boats run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Pickup from your hotel is around 7:30 AM and we drop you back after the second dive. The SS Thistlegorm is the exception: the wreck is far out, so that day starts around 5:30 AM. Worth it, we promise.

Can I dive in Hurghada without any experience?

Yes, and it happens every day on our boat. First-Time Diving needs no certificate at all. Your instructor explains everything, you practise breathing in shallow water first, and then you do a calm reef dive to 6 or 8 metres maximum. The instructor stays within arm’s reach the entire time, and kids can join from age 10.

How much does diving in Hurghada cost?

A full day on the boat with 2 guided dives, lunch, drinks and hotel transfer is €40 per person, every day. Dive several days and it stays a simple €40 per day, for example 5 days with 10 dives for €200. Wreck trips are €85 to €100 and PADI courses start at €195.

Which wrecks can I dive from Hurghada?

The big three of the Red Sea. The SS Thistlegorm, a WWII cargo ship and probably the most famous wreck in the world (advanced divers, long boat ride). Abu Nuhas, a reef with four wrecks lying side by side, fine from Open Water level. And the Salem Express near Safaga, a deep and very moving dive for advanced divers. Every wreck trip includes 2 guided dives.

Do I need to bring my own diving equipment?

No. We have full sets on board: BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins and computer, all serviced regularly. Just tell us your sizes when you book. If you have your own gear, bring it, plenty of our guests travel with only a mask and a computer.

How do PADI courses work with Dive Today Hurghada?

Simple: one instructor, one student. You do the theory online with PADI eLearning, and all the water work happens from our boat between 8 AM and 4 PM. Open Water takes 3 to 4 days (€330), Advanced 2 days (€290), Rescue 3 to 4 days (€400) and Divemaster 4 to 6 weeks (€900). Certification fees and equipment are included.

Is diving in Hurghada safe?

With a serious operator, very safe. Our rules are simple: never more than 4 divers per guide, a proper briefing before every dive, oxygen and first aid on every boat, and conservative depth and time limits. Every guide on our team is a PADI professional who has spent years on these exact reefs.

What is “Find My Dive”?

It started with guests asking us for one specific reef they saw years ago. Tell us the site, wreck or animal you have in mind. We know every boat in Hurghada and where each one goes each day, so we book the right boat, come with you, and guide you on the site you actually wanted. You only pay for the trip. The matching itself is free.
